Introductory Trailer

Andy Nevitt, an endurance paddler based in Wausau, WI, has dedicated much of his time to fitness kayaking and ultra-marathon river racing across the Midwest since 2019. His commitment to the sport has made him one of the region’s most competitive endurance paddlers, consistently finishing at or near the top in his races. In 2023, he set the fastest solo time for paddling the entire 421-mile length of the Wisconsin River, completing the journey in 5 days, 2 hours, and 19 minutes, beating the previous record by nearly 28 hours. Now, he is preparing for an even greater challenge: breaking the fastest overall record, a 4-day, 2-hour, and 22-minute mark set by a two-man canoe team in 1995. With improved efficiency, meticulous planning, and intense training, he aims to set a new benchmark in May 2025. It is his goal that this achievement and documentary will bring renewed widespread attention to both the sport and the Wisconsin River as a resource for outdoor adventure.
The Documentary will be focused on his preparation and training for the attempt as well as the actual attempt. It will feature coverage of all 4 days, as well as a reflection on the attempt whether it was a success or a failure. In the event of a failure the follow-up attempt will also be covered. The entirety of the attempt will be covered by a team of 3-4 filmmakers from Central Wisconsin with the bulk of the coverage done by John Russell Seal.

This documentary is more than just a film. Andy Nevitt’s pursuit of the fastest overall time down the Wisconsin River is a story of resilience, strategy, and sheer human will; values that align perfectly with brands that champion adventure, the outdoors, and pushing the limits of the human body.
We are seeking to raise ~$20,000 to bring this story to life, covering production costs and ensuring the highest quality film possible. Beyond that, we aim to exceed this goal to support nonprofits dedicated to preserving the Wisconsin River’s recreational opportunities and ecosystem. With plans to premiere the film at Canoecopia and film festivals, and a local screening, this project offers a unique opportunity for brands and individuals to align with an inspiring story.
